22 Weeks

22 WEEKS

Size: Ear of Corn {11.8" long}

Gender: Still not telling, but we are so overjoyed about our cute little baby.  I love knowing the gender because I've been able to prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically for Peanut's arrival.  Knowing the gender makes planning so much easier for me.  Sorry we haven't revealed it yet, but we will at the end of March!

Baby Names?: We picked one last week, and we love it! We cannot wait to name Peanut.  We won't be sharing the name until Peanut comes in June.

Cravings: Sandwiches, Potato chips, Apples

Aversions: Chicken, Salsa, leftovers, Guacamole, Pepper- all the same things since the beginning of my pregnancy.

Symptoms: My feet are starting to swell a little bit, and my joints ache when I walk around too much.  I've been really good about elevating my feet and taking Fish Oil to help with my joints.  I stretch more often and I've started sitting on a exercise ball at home instead of on the couch which has really helped with the back aches.

Movement: So much movement it's hard for me to get comfortable and fall asleep at night.  Peanut is always kicking.  I started wearing skirts and dresses more often . Peanut is always kicking at the button or the waistband of my pants so skirts and dresses have been more comfortable for the both of us.

Nausea/Sickness: I got a cold later in the week and it totally drained me.  I was completely useless that day.  I took some Tylenol, went to bed early and slept with a humidifier on and I woke up the next day feeling great!  I get a little dizzy/lightheaded when I walk around too much and don't have water or a snack with me.

Sleep: I've been sleeping really well this week, which I love.  Falling asleep has been the most difficult part but it's been great waking up well rested and ready for the day.

Maternity Clothes: Yes. I bought a dress this week because I was tired of repeating church clothes.  I've had this weird goal during my pregnancy to always dress better than I feel.  But in all honesty, I think doing so has always made me feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Wedding Ring On or Off?: On.  I have to make sure I don't fall asleep with my ring on or else it takes me a while to take it off in the mornings.

Best Moment of the Week: Getting Peanut's room ready has been so much fun! I've painted some things and we bought a dresser.  I also got a sewing machine!  I told myself I would buy one right after I graduated college and 5 months later I actually bought one.  I have discovered something though...I am the worst at sewing! I am horrendously horrible at it- but it has still been fun.  So I learned how to sew this week but I've also learned that I'm bad at it.  Practice makes perfect, and I don't think Peanut will notice my crooked seams at such a young age so I think I'm good.

Worst Moment of the Week: Peanut has started to feel pretty heavy.  I know that Peanut is only going to get heavier and I will be gaining even more weight, so I shouldn't complain too much.  But this is the first week where I have felt like pregnancy has really started taking a toll on my body.  But that's okay.  I love my little baby so I don't mind too much.

Looking Forward To: More preparations for Peanut and Peanut's room.  I've bought clothes and made headway on Peanut's room this week so I'm really looking forward to making more progress on planning for Peanut.  My goal is to have things mostly ready by 32 weeks {which gives me 10 weeks to go!}.

Sorry for the lack of explanation, but many have been asking about why I need to see a specialist during my pregnancy.  Long story short, my antibody screening came back positive meaning that there is something in my bloodstream that can trigger my immune system into thinking our baby poses a threat to my body and will try to force me to go into labor early and/or miscarry.  This antibody also has the potential to cause some blood disorders in our little baby.  BUT my doctors say I'm doing great, Peanut's growing and developing just fine and that I just need to get a few more blood tests.  These blood tests will determine whether the level of antibody is increasing and getting to harmful levels.  So far, I'm pretty far from the levels being harmful, but that can always change so I need to be monitored.  As much as I wish my pregnancy was easier in this area, we are currently experiencing the best-case scenario for our situation so we are very grateful and thankful.  We pray for mine & Peanut's health everyday and our prayers are continuing to be answered.  We have a very loving Heavenly Father who answers our prayers and values what is important to us.
At some point I'll start posting pictures of some of the DIY projects I've done for Peanut and his/her room.  I keep myself pretty busy during the week with little odds and ends projects.
Kurt and I would like to thank everyone again for all the love and support you've sent our way during these last 22 weeks!  We are so happy to be growing our family and couldn't imagine life any other way.
